This is it! We are hereby releasing the 1.2 and final version of the Left 4 Dead 1 version of the campaign. It certainly took time, almost 8 months… At the beginning, we honestly thought this port would be a piece of cake, but we just couldn’t figure how difficult it would be and how life would change for each of us following the release of the first version. Between missing content, broken features, crashes and unexplainable issues, we were really this close to give up during these last months.

1. RECOMMENDED CONFIGURATION
Any computer that can run Left 4 Dead campaigns should be able to run I Hate Mountains decently. We'd recommend that your computer specifications slightly exceed what's recommended for Left 4 Dead since our campaign is a bit greedier in some places.
Recommended configuration :
— Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
— Display Card: DirectX 9 compatible graphics card
— Memory: 1 GB
— Free Disk Space: 520 MB
— Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP/Vista/Seven
2. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
How do I install this campaign?
Before you install, please make sure you have the 'Steam Client' installed along with 'Left 4 Dead'. Also make sure the game has been launched at least once through Steam. Then, all you need to do is to extract and/or move the ihatemountains.vpk here:
...\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\addons\
To successfully hear our custom sound effects:
Type snd_rebuildaudiocache in the game console in order to rebuild the game sound cache and include our sounds into it. You may prefer to do it with a game launched else it will freeze your game (but will still work). This only include ambient sound, but plays a huge role in immersion. To learn how to activate the game console, follow the previous link.
To successfully see our custom visual effects:
Temporary disable any custom campaign you may have installed except I Hate Mountains because they can overwrite themselves pretty bad due to engine limitations. To do this, go to Menu > Extra > Add-ons and uncheck the checkboxes near each content. This only include waterfalls, rotor wind, sprinklers rain and such, but plays a huge role in immersion.
To successfully see our hints:
Because it can be quite intimidating to survive the first tries, enable the game instructor in Options > Multiplayer > Game Instructor and then, type gameinstructor_reset_counts in the game console to reactivate all the help messages. Simply delete the ihatemountains.vpk located here:

During the development, there's a few things we had to accept and among these is the fact that not everything is possible in a Left 4 Dead campaign.
